Making fintech for travel take off

At Dónde, I’ve led product design for our travel fintech React app since its inception. We began as a B2B2C startup, with user-centric design principles guiding every product strategy and design decision. Our ambition is to provide end-to-end enjoyment throughout the Dónde travel journey, starting from a streamlined and enticing onboarding experience to offering post-booking support resources.

Our core offerings include exclusive, agent-negotiated travel rates, a repository of travel partnerships, and free-to-member white-glove concierge services through our experienced travel design team. Members gain access to key integrations, such as the lowest market rates on hotels, experiences, and personalized travel insurance.

Championing paid paid time off

The Dónde Wallet serves as a user’s vacation savings account, enabling travelers to save for their time off alongside their employer’s respective reward program. It also unlocks our proprietary Dónde Rewards program, adding a third level of savings to increase their spending power and gamify their saving and spending milestones.

  • Despite the increasing popularity of mobile research and bookings, a significant portion of travelers continue to prefer booking through desktop or laptop devices.

Experiential meets experimental

Through our AI-powered everywhere search, search results are converted to the best in-app, bookable matches, and — for more generalized searches — long-form content is provided to educate and facilitate their travel journey progression.

Trip planning and support are essential as a user purchases and embarks on their trip. With My Trips, we implemented a smart recommendation engine to contextually fill gaps in a user’s itinerary, informed by their travel persona, favorited items, and search history.

Finally, to help users get help pre- and post-booking, we introduced Spiffy, our AI-powered virtual assistant. Spiffy provides actionable prix fixe answers (based on our support materials, guides, and FAQs) and AI-generated answers to any free-form inputs. All responses have been trained to maintaining our established voice and tone.
